weblogs for business

There is an interesting new concept of Weblogs Inc. capitalize the marketing value of weblogs. It is a marketing platform for several vertical weblogs. Content comes from independent authors. It is the first professional and dedicated approach I could find for so called weblog 'vortals'. I will keep them bookmarked....

It's a very interesting idea, and I will definitely watch it, but I wonder if it will have the ability to really take off. I read that only about 4% of Americans read weblogs, and probably most of those are tech people, not busy business people. I think there is an interest, but it is difficult to get the word out without using major news outlets.

True the usage of weblogs is small indeed. Europe has even lower usage rates. But it seems to grow. There are some marketing tools, like search engines helping you to mark your footprint quickly in the market.

Whil readership is low, blogs are indexed very frequently by search engines, as they often contain the zeitgeist of the internet and richly interlinked (interlinking improves Google pagerank). It is much easier to get to nr1 ranking in Google than it is with a regular commercial website which is why it is a very good idea to ahve a blog on your main site.
