The tech community is alive and kicking here in Silicon Valley. After beeing a couple of times to teh SF Newtech Meetup (which has become huge) I also joined the Silicon valley NewTech Meetup yesterday right here in Palo Alto at DLA Piper.
A packed room with 150+ people, some great demos and lots of networking were teh ingredients of a great evening.
These companies presented
* skout.com - find, meet, and chat with new people on the go. Works with any mobile phone wit a webbrowser and connects to sites like facebook. [Redg Snodgrass]
* dabbleboard.com - a SUPERIOR whiteboard tool that can help with collaboration around the world, or right in your own office. [Zohair Hyder]
* thegroupery.com - enlist volunteers, organize activities, and manage donations - the new way for people to self organize for social good. [Darren Lancaster]
* offbeatguides.com - create real, hold-in-your hand personal travel guides based on travel dates, destination, and personal interests. [David Sifry]

David Sifry is the guy who started Technorati, right? he's not associated with Technorati anymore, or is this an additional venture for him?

The SV New Tech Meetup is great! How would you say it compares to the SF New Tech Meetup?

It's more cozy compared to the one in SF. But has all the good ingredients as well so really liked it - the right size of venue and crowd...
