Siemens Mobile Accelerator (SMAC) one of the few active seed financiers in the dry desert of German VC is actively broadening the investment horizon. Most seed financiers have actively sought a pullback from the market or industries in recent past.

"Siemens Mobile acceleration (SMAC), the leading backer and investor for early-stage wireless companies, today announced it has extended its business scope by broadening its investment focus from wireless technologies to cover the entire communications sector. Additionally, it has adopted a new name, Siemens Acceleration in Communications, to better reflect its new mandate."

SMAC has done quite a lot of deals in the last 12 months:

- Siemens Mobile Acceleration invests in Exit Games, a specialist for mobile multiplayer software- Siemens Mobile Acceleration completes first investment in Finland - Oplayo enables mobile video services for the mass market
