SAP to expand facilities in India
Filed in archive Global Economy on November 18, 2003
German ERP software maker SAP wants to expand facilities in India. Also with another bold announcement SAP predicts the majority of SAP's software developers will soon be living in Bangalore, India.
"We announced an investment of euro 20 million in 2003 towards scaling up operations in Bangalore. In the first phase, we have 750 software professionals. Phase II will see this number going up to 1100 and by 2004 we expect this to be a 1500-people centre.
The new 250,000 sq feet facility will be SAP's largest such lab outside of Walldorf. Currently, SAP's eight technology centres collectively contribute 30 per cent of the development work to Walldorf. Of this 30 per cent, India is now expected to account for the largest share.
