Fenwick & West has published the actual statistics for Silicon Valley VC investments. It supports the argument of a slow but steady improvement of VC investments in the region.
"Probably the most important trend in the Q4 survey is the reduced percentage of financings that are down rounds, especially in earlier stage financings.
When combined with the significant increase in the amount of venture capital investment in 4Q03 that was reported in industry publications, there are clear signs that the venture environment is improving."
