TechCrunch has an exciting piece this week on the call for applicants for the 3rd annual "Summer@Highland" entrepreneurship program. The program is run by Highland Capital Partners.

Highland's 10 week program is only open to enrolled graduate and undergraduate students... But only one member of a start-up team has to meet this criterion. Teams can have up to 4 people and will be given the option of working in the VC firm's Menlo Park, CA or Lexington, MA offices. If you're accepted, there's a stipend for being in the program - between $7,500 to $15,000 (depending on how many people are on your team). If your application is accepted, Highland asks for nothing in return for the experience you get from the program. And if your idea is successful enough, they may offer you seed funding...

If Highland doesn't want anything in return, then there's a good chance of a some good people applying for it, passing through the program and going onto to something really big. And we could really use a few winners to dispel all the doom and gloom.
