I just played around with Yokel a local shopping search engine. Simple and nice.

Yokel just finished its first (?) round from Startup Florida, Startup Massachusetts, Walnut Ventures and Boston Capital Ventures.

"We are excited to join the team at Yokel," said Rich Swier, Managing Partner of Startup Florida. "Local search is one of the next frontiers of the Internet, and we believe Yokel has the technology and the management team required to compete and gain attention in the marketplace."

Yokel offers visitors a single destination to search and locate products for purchase at local stores. Visitors simply type in the desired product, as well as their location via zip code, and Yokel will display a list of local stores that carry the product, sorted by proximity to the user.

"The team at Yokel and I are excited about working with Startup Massachusetts and Startup Florida. We understand the value of having partners that have experience in the industry and who are willing to work side-by-side with us to build a great company", said Scott Randels, CEO of Yokel, Inc."
Try it yourself.
