I'm here at RedHerring East 2007 in Boston, MA.
My first impression a typical RedHerring event - nice people, nice food and a relaxed atmosphere. There are around 150-200 people here on teh first day.
Speakers, sponsors, entrepreneurs, VCs, (boutique) investment banks and consultants. Overall a good mix of executives. The planned topic range is rather wide - Cleantech, BioTech, Web 3.0 (!) and the 'usual' is the VC model broken' discussion.
Some of the speakers include:
* Daniel Neal, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Kajeet
* Danny Schultz, Co-Founder & Managing Director, DFJ Gotham Ventures
* Marc Davis, Social Media Guru, Yahoo! Inc.
* Michael Jones, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Userplane
* Paul Gillen, Vice President & Group Publisher, TechTarget.com
* Wendy Caswell, President & Chief Executive Officer, ZINK Imaging, LLC.
The most interesting so far was Zink (a Polaroid spin-off) - a very cool gadget the prints photos on the go and SpotScout a mobile tool that helps you find available parking spots.
The best panel so far was the Web3.0 panel with good comments from Michael Jones and Marc Davis about how the web and user generated websites will develop in future. Good opinions and certainly some good insights.
