Hamburg Business Angel Congress

Filed in archive Venture Capital on November 18, 2003

Yesterday Catcap featured another excellent event the "Hamburger Business Angel Kongress" in Hamburg. The discussions aimed to educate business angels and tried to give advice in typical BA issues.
Dr Neuhaus, founder of Dr Neuhaus Techno Nord VC gave many details about his career from an entrepreneur in high tech to being business angel and setting up Northern Germanys biggest VC. He provided insight in his deal flow of 30 investments and 17 exits so far. He is a good example how much social competence pays off for entrepreneurs.
Later in the evening Klaus Ploenzke, founder of Ploenzke AG, which was sold to CSC in 1999, presented his commitment to fostering entrepreneurship with Forum Kiedrich, his entrepreneur "marketplace" that apparently helped 200 companies to start up.

Several interesting companies pitched for investments:

  • Immatics Biotechnologies

  • Exitgames - develops a framework for online games - very interesting

  • Nicetec - high end IT cost controlling technology

  • Matrix Solutions - is not about the movie, but instead provides a smooth e-ticketing technology

  • Maxfresh - wants to set up a healthy fast food chain and has an excellent management team

  • Enaikoon - has powerful products for GPS positioning voice recognition

  • mybet - provides P2P betting and clones betfair.com, I did report earlier about them

  • Sushi Factory - made a powerful presentation of their established fast food sushi business in Northern Germany

  • Curagita - is a managed health care provider
