Goodbye Germany?

It is a banana republic scenario that seems to go on in Germany. The elected chancellor looses his lust to work on and instead of retiring, puts on a play so that the parliament decides to loose confidence in him suddenly.

That would be a good sign you think but alas the lection campaign goes awkward. The newly created ultra-left wing party sees (early in the campaign still) record highs of 11%. Instead of modernizing the crusted labor market system you will see campaigners talking about which tax to raise! Is it that Germany says goodbye to other competitive world economies?
