German messaging security provider sold

Filed in archive Venture Capital by tj on January 15, 2004

Cobion - a German startup that produces solutions for content filteringlinks and anti-spam was acquired by ISS. The press releases states 26 million as transaction value. Cobion has had a quite impressive client list and managed an early expansion from Germany to US. Maybe they got stuck with their expansion plans, as the price seems a bit low for a successful company. Cobion had an earlier capital injection from Wellington Partners of $5.9 million in October 2002.

Or maybe Google had a say against their marketing slogan "Googleization of Content Security".
