gate5 a Berlin, Germany based provider of dynamic mobile guides raised stunning $8 million from several European VCs. The round is one of the biggest early stage fundings in Europe this year.

gate5 makes mobile city guides for mobile phones and PDAs.

"gate5 licenses its software to the service owner, who has a billing relationship with the user. Typical service providers are owners of mass-market content brands, or carriers and portals owning significant mobile distribution channels."
