Venture Capital

Esther Dyson the omnipresent pundit of progressivity and emerging technologies has an impressive amount of portfolio companies. Esther started traveling in Eastern Europe in 1989 and helped several high-tech companies in Eastern Europe to find venture capital. So her investments are geographically quite distinctive. Her portfolio consists of American as well as many Easter Europe based companies. There are several "clones", but some very interesting and innovative companies from industries like publishing, research and messaging security, too.
Here are my favorites:
Here are my favorites:
- CV-Online - a remainder for monster acquisition hunger an the largest recruitment company operating throughout Eastern and Central Europe.
- Electrobug - sells software for better pricing in different industries.
- Meetup - one of the most innovative grassroots projects in recent past. This is real social software.
- NewspaperDirect - a platform for newspapers to reach customers electronically in non-local delivery zone. Alas the web demo lacks a bit of spirit.
- Space Adventures - a company preparing and organizing yourself for your next trip to space.
- Voxiva - a company focusing on bringing internet to more remote locations
