enterprise software trends
Filed in archive Technology by tj on September 30, 2004
Ed has a nice summary outlining the future of enterprise software.

He identifies and confirms several major trends:

- software will become a service (ASP) during this decade
- semantic, asynchronous XML communication is the medium of choice for EAI
- RFID tags will do the ground work of collecting data from real life and will challenge ERP systems capabilitiesWell that's what we where saying with newtron for a long time. SRM only makes sense as a hosted service (as there are so many players to connect). We also integrated Heidelberger Druck's SAP system at that time via XML messages. Good to see we had been right in some cases :-)
