Another company that continues to amaze me - yes it is not high-tech but a company that seems to run from one success to another.
It provides the best in-flight service in the industry, has the newest aircrafts, a super-slick new hub in the desert, adds new routes every quarter and makes handsome profits:
"Emirates, owned by the government of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, reported a 49 per cent rise in net profits to $637m. It airline carried 12.5m passengers, an increase of 2.1m."In a wider region that is not really awash with entrepreneurial spirit (Dubai is much more) and an unusual committment that does not sound hollow after so many years proving it:
"The results prove once again we can count on our customers to support Emirates, as long as we deliver on our side of the equation the best aircraft that money can buy, the best ground and inflight service in commercial aviation, and the best overall flying experience at a competitive price."Great success story...

A Government owned company that is making big profits? Why does this seem suspicious to begin with? Want to be their "independent" auditor is also the Government of Dubai..nothing unusual there, right?

I agree a company that is so entreched with the government is usually not a good deal. But even more so Emirates stands out - it is differnt than the boring hardly competitive companies in Dubai. Emirates provides a real product with real superiority. And if you run a company for so many years it becomes difficult to fake the accounts consistently:)
