EMC buys VMWare
Filed in archive Venture Capital on December 18, 2003
Some months ago I wrote first time about Vmware. Now the company's directors agreed to an offer from EMC worth $ 635 million. The company received an investment from Veritas worth $5 million and $20 million in a round led by Dell in 2000. Microsoft also tried to negotiate an acquisition of vmware a while ago, but VMWare turned down the offer.
Thanks Tobias for helping me to correct the wrong investment figures!

Veritas? I've blogged about this earlier; they got $20 million in 2000. But it's another very remarkable exit in the software space.

Thanks! I was not aware of this investment round. Do you have figures about valuations at that point of time?
