digital content a windfall?

I just stumbled upon Technology Review's site that sells corporate patent reports. Reports are made by Chi Research and cost a hefty $200 each. If you see the sample report there you might be surprised to see that the report does not give names or application numbers of patents (as I would have expected) but only numbers how many patents were registered in which sector.
