DEMOFall 05 Day 2 Morning Session

The second day starts with a fury of very interesting startups:
EasyReachEasyreach has a client/ server system that allows you to access desktops through a simple central browser interface (but your desktop has to be on).
It works fine from a PC as well as from Smartphones like the Blackberry. It looks pretty simple and probably - I like that. Wouldn't I have built some file caches on some external services I would be in.
Destinator TechnologiesDestinator says it is Number 3 provider of location based services in Europe and just launched in the US.
Destinator uses information from Yahoo Local and triangulation from the cell phone provider and shows you location information and also shows the route. Looks all pretty much out of beta.
See their presentation here.
Me Inc.Me Inc. is a set of applications and access options for Smart Phone users. There is project planning, a calendar and much elese. It is most likely integrated into a coporate infrastucrture (i.e. Exchange) but word about it on stage.
AirenaAirset is a 'mobile groupware' that helps you the 'manage' your social life. There is a calendar, Task Management, Group Management, Weblogs and much more (as it seems). It all looks very much like a Outlook/ Exchange combination powered by AJAX.
The demo was largely on the web browser but you can use it on most cell phones as well. Outlook and Palm is also on the synchronize list.
I really like the product and the presentation. Less intrusive presentation and absolutely convincing product - Buy.
gNumberMobile Shopping through ebay? GNumber allows you to bid via voice interaction for an ebay auction. There was this shareware product I have seen before but can't remember the name that was pretty similar. The ebay craze is over it seems - I'm not really excited about this one.
TalkplusTalkplus has a VOIP product on a cell phone - so Skype is coming to your cell phone? Conference Calls, cheap long distance rates all on your existing cell phone. It also allows tweaking of the outbound Caller ID (it could even be an international number). Besides that you also get local inbound numbers (i.e. a German number) and your phone in the US rings.
All very cool its like Vonage on your cell phone. Very innovative - if that works it is a buy. I was always looking for a cell VOIP service - guess I need to sign up for GPRS flat rate now.
Digital ChocolateAptly named MLSN Sports Picks is a mix of a game and sports betting application (although no real money flows). Considering $21.4 million investments from Sequoia and Kleiner Perkins not that amazing but Wireless Gaming seems to be a miraculous money machine.
Hear the first 45 minutes of todays morning session as podcast.AirmediaAirMedia brings entertainment content to the mobile phone - so far so good. They showcase some of their customers solution wireless games that also connect internet users.
Airmedia helps customers the bring applications from development and porting to several devices in a very small timeframe (down to 30 days).
Makes a lot of sense if you develop mobile applications.
ComVuComVU helps you to become a video broadcaster
(if that is your dream). Simple uploading and publishing from your cell and/ or laptop. Also the service offers pay-per-view and scheduled broadcastingLooks all good but just not sure if that alone will be the critical success factor.
And now we head into a panel discussion named "TV in your pocket: Will Mobile Video Star in 2006" with Rajeev Chand and Jeff Lorbeck from Qualcomm.
Hear the second 45 minutes of todays morning session as podcast (incl. the full panel discussion). We look forward to see the final session in the afternoon today.
