Critical Mention with $4 million round

Ok somebody needs to educate me here - who needs a (rather expensive) contract to search broadcast TV in real time? It is a neat feature to do so and check back with Blinkx but who needs that information from broadcast and is also able to setup the keywords and search filters appropriately? Sure in can be great in politics and for some sports events but broadcast TV is usually digesting and rendering news that come faster and often more fact enriched through the internet. So why?

Anyway Critical Mention raised $4 million in Series B from cibc Capital Partners, Silicon Alley Venture Partners and Stonehenge Capital:

"In the last year we have grown our client base by over 300 percent,
launched API integrations with several important partners and extended our
market reach to law firms, financial services and newsrooms," said Sean
Morgan, Founder and CEO of Critical Mention. "Growing off this strong base,
this latest round of financing positions us to further accelerate our growth
in both traditional broadcast monitoring as well as emerging TV search and
video syndication markets. 2006 will be the year that video on the web goes
mainstream, and we are excited to be part of this massive growth trend."
