Thanks to
Lead21 another superb event unfolded in Silicon Valley yesterday this time with
Carly Fiorina. Carly stressed several points that I suppose will be a centerpiece of her upcoming book.
The necessary investment in secondary education (she claimed high school drop put rates are 30% in the US, which seemed a little high to me) was her first demand of the evening. The second one she stressed was the importance of innovation as THE competitive advantage of the 21st century. Both easy winners with an audience of Silicon valley business folks.
An interesting question that came from the auditorium yesterday was the question how do we measure the intellectual power of one's mind - meaning what is the equivalent of the physical strength that used to be important and measurable in earlier centuries. We have IQ - but what about applied IQ and specific skills not necessarily reflected by a broad IQ. I haven't found a good answer on thsi one though.
