I was long looking for a capable CRM software that can be installed on Linux server park. Goldmine or ACT! are both windows-based and I could't find an option to host them easily.
Now Jeff points me to SugarCRM an open-source CRM based on MySQL and PHP. SugarCRM has raised USD 2 mio. from Draper fisher Jurvetson in august this year.
I'll give it a try!

SugarCRM rocks. We tried salesforce.com. SugarCRM seems like an identical twin - but just incredibly cheeper. You do not need to do it hosted. It is pretty easy to setup yourself. All you need is a machine with some spare capacity - do not forget to have a backup plan in place though.
